Here’s the official press release on the latest MINI USA Dragcar results that we reported on a few days ago:

>The MINI USA/FTR Dragster made an impressive showing at the Import Drag Racing Circuit’s (IDRC) International Finals at the Los Angeles County Raceway in Palmdale, California this past weekend. With a dramatic improvement in performance, the car posted a time of 11.26 seconds for the quarter-mile with a top speed of 121.1 miles per hour. This is a full 1.28 seconds quicker and 5.4 miles per hour faster that its best performance at Pomona and betters its claim as the world’s quickest MINI in the quarter-mile.

>”With tremendous gains in both speed and consistency, we have made some pretty impressive strides since we last raced at Pomona in October.” said Hubie Fuh, President of FTR. “That we are putting this kind of performance to the ground with a bone-stock drivetrain outside of performance pistons and the turbo shows that this is one mighty tough motor.”

>”Besting our performance on the strip by more than a full second is a tremendous improvement” said Jeff Stracco, MINI Product Manager. ” The world’s quickest MINI has just gotten quicker and we have only just begun to tap its potential.”

>MINI USA has collaborated with the extreme California based tuner FIREBALL TIM RACING (FTR) to create a one-of-a-kind record-breaking dragster. The outrageous carbon fiber MINI dragster always stands out at events, drawing a crowd of onlookers whether it is on the strip or on display. The car has appeared at select events over the last several months, including SEMA in Las Vegas, NV, the NHRA Sport Compact World Finals in Pomona, CA and Hot Import Nights in Phoenix AZ to name a few. The MINI USA/FTR dragster will make its next appearance at Hot Import Nights in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, December 3, 2005.
