R56 JCW Accessories Sneak Peak

The accessories onslaught is set to begin this spring for the R56 and we have our first sneak peak this morning. The screen capture to the right (click to enlarge) shows the new aero kit, JCW spoiler, JCW wheels, and carbon trim that will debut this spring.

No word on pricing or exact release date but as we mentioned previously, expect a spring of 2007 availability and prices similar to those found with the R50 and R53. Big thanks to Markus for the link.

that thing looks totally nasty.

Nozz Sep 5th, 2006 Link

Yummy. An much bigger and better improvement…

msh441 Sep 5th, 2006 Link

Finally! Some idea of what the R56 car will look like with a slight drop and some proper wheels. A much more agressive stance than the previous press release pics of the MC and MCS. Just how a Mini should look, for sure. I’m not sold on the spoiler, or the rear bumper cover on the aero kit… but this pic is only a sneak peak (small and somewhat blurry). Heck, I wasn’t thrilled about the GP’s styling either (until better pics stared to come out-and it’s a stunner!). If it’s like years past, the aero kit can hopefully be purchased in pieces, so the the ability to individualize the R56 is looking promicing.

Luke Sep 5th, 2006 Link

I can’t wait!!!! I’ve wanted a red and black since I put mine into a pole :(. This would be the best and only way to get my next MINI.

JP Money Sep 5th, 2006 Link

When I first saw the R56, I didn’t like it at all. It looked bulky, high, and just plain ugly. With the JCW accessories, I like it alot. I still won’t be trading in my MCS, but the R56 isn’t so bad anymore. :)

alpha-6 Sep 5th, 2006 Link

Those wheels are killer!!!!!

dickdavid Sep 5th, 2006 Link

I got to see the R50/53 wing in person a few weekends ago. I’m tipically not a wing fan, but it actually looked pretty sweet.

The R56 wing looks just as sweet.

MINI Fireman Sep 5th, 2006 Link

A tremendous improvement over the stock look. I especially like the front end. The JCW spoiler is still the best looking one out there (IMO). Now if we can just work on that pricing…

MINI Fireman Sep 5th, 2006 Link

Those wheels look pretty sweet as well.

matt Sep 5th, 2006 Link

yeah, i want it.

tony T Sep 5th, 2006 Link

Gabe,
can we get a link to a high res picture, as this looks awful in the pop up. Looks like a bad Photoshop, such is the quality. Would much prefer to see an original if you could be so kind….
Cheers

drew Sep 5th, 2006 Link

RIGHT ON JCW! now we’re talking….

GPMINI Sep 5th, 2006 Link

What in the name of God is going on with that rear bumper cover?

agranger Sep 5th, 2006 Link

I agree w/ GPMINI… Once again, the design of the rear aero bumper bites the big one!

fdavid Sep 5th, 2006 Link

wow!!! That car looks really pissed off! I like it a lot. But please Gabe, pace yourself with the temptations…I promised myself to wait until 2009 2010 to jump on this puppy :)…plus I want it in Black!

Zack Sep 5th, 2006 Link

a little too ‘tuner’ looking. imo.

dickdavid Sep 5th, 2006 Link

Those wheels look pretty sweet as well.

I totally agree.

BTW, it’s true. I can’t spell or type (I meant ‘typically’ on my post above).

My guess is that’s all that photo is, is a Photochop…I could be wrong however.

jordan Sep 5th, 2006 Link

isnt that just a photoshop of the old cooper s jcw ???

If we had a hi-res image we’d naturally be more than happy to pass it along as we always do. However this was taken from a screen shot of a BMW internal website so what you see is all we have.

My guess is that’s all that photo is, is a Photochop…I could be wrong however.

Not only would someone have to produce new photography of the R56 for the base image but then they’d have to do some serious photoshop work and then deteriorate the quality after it was all done to get what is seen above.

saakey Sep 5th, 2006 Link

So no, this is a real photograph.

If you say so ;-)

dark06mcs Sep 5th, 2006 Link

is it just me or did the front fogs get bigger? they’re respectable looking now.

dave.d Sep 5th, 2006 Link

DIBBS ON FIRST AERO KIT…LOL

eto Sep 5th, 2006 Link

I don’t know about those funky indentations on the corners of the rear bumper… I do like the front bumper though. With the inclusion of the new mesh grill on the Cooper S, I was thinking that it was close to the look of the aero kit, but this new treatment proves that to be wrong. :)

GPMINI Sep 5th, 2006 Link

That stick-on JCW “bling wing” looks even sillier on the R56.

MauiMac Sep 5th, 2006 Link

Big thanks to Markus for the link

Gabe, can you please give us all the ling that Markus gave to you. Thanks in advance!…

MauiMac Sep 5th, 2006 Link

…the link that Markus gave to you….

MauiMac Sep 5th, 2006 Link

Why didn’t Markus give you a higher res. image. In a comment he left in “http://motoringfile.com/2006/09/01/r56-jcw-accessories-coming-next-spring/”,
he posted an image of his screen in which the image you posted above filled his whole window. Something smells fishy…

…Im just curious as to why Markus did NOT send gabe a higher res. image if (as you can see in the image I posted above) he seems to have the ability to creat one.

Gabe Sep 5th, 2006 Link

I appreciate the enthusiasm but this is truly getting ridiculous. Take the image Markus posted on the other story. Open it up in Photoshop. Crop out the portion of the windows app so you just see the image. Compare pixel size to what you see above when you click on the image. It’s identical.

markus Sep 6th, 2006 Link

Hi folks,
I´m sorry that I can´t give you a higher res picture of the screenshot, but I can tell you that it´s not my screenshot or a photoshop of me. I even can´t handle photoshop. Well, I do not have photoshop in my company. ;-)

I got this pic/link from a german MINI-Forum and it was posted by an employee of BMW. He himshelf isn´t able to do better on screenshots and he can´t post the whole pdf because there were some internal informations BMW wouldn´t like to reach public by now.
Sorry about that.

Gabe just cutted off the image without the windows sourroundings. It´s the same size and quality as in “my” german forum (the origin) or in http://www.mini2.com - all the same pics…

I promise when I find somewhere better pics, you´ll be the first to know, but I´m also just a forum and motoringfile user…

The car looks great and i can see all my wages going on modding my new mini.

thanks for the update

Accessory car parts for all Sep 6th, 2006 Link

[...] Many car companies add accessory car parts for their vehicles. For example a writer called Gabe from MotoringFile wrote a article on how there is a new MINI couper accessory kits coming out next year. [...]

Eelke Sep 6th, 2006 Link

Open it up in Photoshop. Crop out the portion of the windows app so you just see the image.

Or, just open the two pages in different browser windows (or tabs, if you are so [lucky]http://www.getfirefox.com to have them ;)) and switch between them. Doing so I did notice that in Gabe’s version, the colors look a little more vibrant. But that’s an easy Photoshop tweak.

Eelke Sep 6th, 2006 Link

Whoops.. Linking didn’t quite work.
