Grab your VIN #, more free stuff!!!

TSizemore3 Sep 12th, 2006 Link

BAH! The net nanny filters here at work won’t let me see the site properly! Guess I’ll have to wait till I get home to see it.

minijcwgp Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Super! Thanks Gabe. I like the concept the ad agency came up with, but I just do not have the time to chase around looking for the Mags to find the ads.

bellemerlord Sep 12th, 2006 Link

What is a VIN #?

Craig Sep 12th, 2006 Link

I never received my secret decoder glasses. Is there any way to get them? I bought my new MINI in the begining of January 2006.

WingNut Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Woohoo!
Thanks Gabe, good buddy!

R50 Sep 12th, 2006 Link

That site is a hoot: old yellowed newsprint, funky drawings and unexpected videos. Good job BSSP

lTZMTOR Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Reminds me of Charles S Anderson & Joe Duffy’s work from back in the ’80’s. Fun Stuff.

Z4MINI Sep 12th, 2006 Link

The dinosaur easter egg is the best.
No…the snapping gum…
No…the aliens.
No the Dinosaurs….I’ve got that tune in my head now.

dickdavid Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Very nice. I’ll be getting my toggle switch cover in 4-6 weeks.

dickdavid Sep 12th, 2006 Link

What is a VIN #?

Vehicle Identification Number

It’s on your driver’s side dash, on one of your strut mounts, (I think) inside the driver door panel and on your Roadside Assistance Card.

gmini Sep 12th, 2006 Link

I got the toggle switch plate without having recieved the decoder still! Thanks, GABE!

Josh Wardell Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Just like the last time REMEMBER TO YELL LOUDLY AND TYPE YOUR VIN IN ALL CAPS

JD7 Sep 12th, 2006 Link

What is a VIN #?

Vehicle Identification Number

I just logged into the Owner’s Lounge to get my VIN.

mdsbrain Sep 12th, 2006 Link

This is awesome! I have my adventure toggle switch set on its way.

Ian C. Sep 12th, 2006 Link

You blew this “secret” very quickly! :(

Patrick Sep 12th, 2006 Link

That dinosaur tune sure is catchy!

AJ Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Any other links via the whole decoder thing? I have the decoder package, but none of the magazines we have to look for

robble Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Here is one. I think it was from MC^2:
http://aswec-fit.org/

minijcwgp Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Since you can only access these MINI easter eggs with your MINI’s VIN number, I don’t see this as Gabe blowing any secrets to anyone other than the MINI owners who are the end targets of all of these anyway.

robble Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Yup! Every MINI owner already has their super hard to break password.

You may find the house without it, but you won’t get in.

MINI Fireman Sep 12th, 2006 Link

I don’t think Ian meant Gabe blew the secret. I think that was directed to those making the comments spilling the beans.

O(=^=)O Capn Sep 12th, 2006 Link

I was too lazy to go to the car, so I just went to autotrader and looked up a mini for sale, wha-la!

alpinamike Sep 12th, 2006 Link

I thought we had to figure this out on our own, now watch out for people looking for a Vin # on your MINI(so they can get one). If BSSP was smart their campagin would have included a sticker to cover up your MINI’s Vin under the window, follows the spy theme. I have the copywright on that idea.. so don’t take it:)

O(=^=)O Capn Sep 12th, 2006 Link

Reminds me of the secretfunspot

YuccaPatrol Sep 13th, 2006 Link

Gabe,

I think the secret black box stuff is really fun, but it gets ruined if you spill the beans.

I know motoringfile is all about spilling the beans, but I wish it was not the case with this ad campaign.

I’m glad I already decoded this before I found it here. . .

karlInSanDiego Sep 13th, 2006 Link

I guess I’ll have to wait and see if this is still active in Feb(?) when we take delivery of our ‘07.

EricR Sep 13th, 2006 Link

I’m with Yucca on this one - there are some things that just shouldn’t be spilt.
At least make us decode something to find it. ;)

Gabe Sep 13th, 2006 Link

I think the secret black box stuff is really fun, but it gets ruined if you spill the beans.

I cannot go into details but it was not my idea to post this. It came from someone a little higher-up.

In the past I’ve always been the first to stay far away from ruining any surprise associated with the new campaign. However this was different.

YuccaPatrol Sep 13th, 2006 Link

You are forgiven, Gabe. . . .

but I do hope that this won’t happen for each and every future ad.

At least I can bask in my own smug-ness knowing that I was the first to post on NAM that I had cracked the second ad but DIDN’T spill the beans. . . :)

bluzeke Sep 13th, 2006 Link

OH NO Gabe! There actually IS “someone a little higher up”?

To me, that is the REAL surprise of this whole affair -now please, tell us or we’ll have to start guessing?!?!?

alpinamike Sep 13th, 2006 Link

His wife..lol

blalor Sep 13th, 2006 Link

The “Real UFO” video is a little … creepy.

Todd, time to fire up the printer; if these are the same quality as the ones included with the welcome kit, we’re gonna have to go vinyl!

Art Nerheim Sep 14th, 2006 Link

It really bothers me that they came out with this nice ad campaign and some VIN# do not work.

Kathy Vosberg Sep 20th, 2006 Link

I to have had trouble with both the insect site and now this one, not excepting my VIN #. So how do we solve that one?

Russell Sep 20th, 2006 Link

So yeah… how come just because I’m in Australia, my VIN doesn’t work?

Lola Nov 1st, 2006 Link

So WHAT EXACTLY is SUPPOSED to happen after you’ve entered your VIN# and clicked enter? When I do this, the box disappears and nothing else happens. Is this normal? Or should something else happen?
