MINI United in 2007 & MTTS in 2008?

For quite a few MINI owners who attended MINI United in Misano Italy last year, the prevailing question was, when can we do this again? We’re happy to exclusively report that MINI is planing on holding a second MINI United in the Netherlands for 2007. We don’t know location nor exact dates but we’ve been told to expect something bigger and better than what we saw in Misano. We’ll have more as we get it.

On the other side of the pond there are a few rumors swirling around that we may see another MINI Takes the States as early as 2008. At this point it’s premature to speculate what way the event would take shape or what events it would be based around. But with the success of this year’s MTTS, MINI USA will surely be interested in following it up with something similar.

Great news for us Dutchies!!!
And for all other MINI owners :)
I’ve been to Misano and this is very good news.
Dankjewel MINI

That would be great! Two things though. They should take a different route and have the HQ hotels in more rural areas or at least hotels that have big lots so the MINI/Mini’s can be together with the bus and NO VALET PARKING! The other thing is that it should be in ‘09 to make it the 50th Anniversay of MINI/Mini.

eto Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Hooray for another MTTS! I should have a MINI by then, so I’ll gladly join in the festivities.

dave.d Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Should the new JCW be a twin-turbo. I will definitely have a MCS JCW and I will go to the 2008 MTTS.

minijcwgp Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Rumor is that the MTTS in ‘08 will also launch/deliver the ‘08 JCW, similar to this year’s launch/delivery of the GP.

dark06mcs Sep 20th, 2006 Link

so the ‘08 JCW will be worthy of such a launch?

baby M car here we come.

Berthil Sep 20th, 2006 Link

So MINI United 2007 will probably be at the racetrack in Zandvoort (between the dunes at the sea) as this is the only racetrack in The Netherlands. It’s a nice corcuti on a nice location with lots of room for events.

Kennedy Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Perhaps they could consider scheduling MTTS ‘08 during an off-school timeframe? The end of August/ early September is also the same time most high-school and university semesters begin, so those of us with academic-calendar work schedules can’t take vacation right then.

minijcwgp Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Hey Dark, that’s the word, and why the JCW kits will no longer be available as a dealer bolt-on.

Going to have to save up my vacation time and all my pennies!

05DSMCS Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Yay for more MTTS! I hope they pick a more northern route this time, it really excluded a lot of the country this year due to it being such a southern route.

FrankInMiami Sep 20th, 2006 Link

MTTS 2006 excluded all of Florida in their route from the west coast.

Rumor has it, the next ‘08 MTTS will cover ground from Seattle all the way to Key West….

Rob Saunders Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Isn’t the new Clubman estate car supposed to come out around ‘08? I just might be tempted to add another MINI to the garage if it’s release coincides with another MTTS!

Ian C. Sep 20th, 2006 Link

The title says MINI United in ‘07, but the text says ‘08?

I hope there’s another MTTS - and I hope the same organisation team is brought in to make it happen.

Beavers Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Headline says MINI United 2007. Copy says 2008.

Whaaaaaa? Gabe will not be pleased if he spots a typo!

I was wondering if/when MINI would do another MTTS. I can’t wait! The only this I hope the concider is moving it more into the summer (I know it had to be scheduled around the Classics), I did loose 10 points in my Airport Managment class. :( Totally worth going though… I would have even done it for 15 points!

RudyT Sep 20th, 2006 Link

This is fing AWESOME !!! I hope this happens. If so, MINI United 2007 will be held just before I have to return home, and will possibly be my last MINI event in Europe. Then I will have the opportunity to head back home to join the MTTS in 2008. The best of both worlds. I will, without any doubt, attend both events in their entirety. It is only in MINI’s best interest to do this as many of us missed both MTTS and MINI United due to not taking delivery of our beloved MINI’s till after the event, or in the MTTS case, not within driving distance.

Avitor Sep 20th, 2006 Link

Attention MINI USA:
About MTTS, please give me some more warning this time, like over a year so I can save up some vacation and make arrangements to be there.

JR Sep 20th, 2006 Link

I think it would be great if MINI could hook up with a rental car company and allow people to rent MINI’s for portions of the trip. That would allow more people to do portions of the trip or to do the whole trip and not have to drive back accross the country.

I totally agree…this is also the reason I’ve never been to the big Dragon event in May…I would love to go, but as a teacher there’s no way to miss classes at those times…

sigh…perhaps one day!

Pedro Sep 20th, 2006 Link

The Seattle to Key West route would be AWESOME. Florida totally got screwed this year.

RudyT Sep 20th, 2006 Link

I didn’t see my home state, North Carolina, on there. Maybe a lap at Charlotte Motor Speedway? Or perhaps in SC, Talledega? Granted, not as cool as Indy, You could even have the route go through the Apps and Blue Ridge mountains being careful not to duplicate the dragon.

msh441 Sep 21st, 2006 Link

Seattle to Key West!?! Living in Washington, family in Florida… I’m in!!!

Can a family of 4 travel in a MINI? For how long? I guess I’ll be finding the answer in 2008!

Natacha Sep 21st, 2006 Link

I received this information from Mini so I am glad to confirm that the “2007 MINI United” will take place in Zaandvoort between the 22nd and 24th of June.

Berthil, don’t forget Assen! From a perspective of e.g. a camping site, Assen provides more opportunities. And the infra-structure is probably better to manage as well (close to the motorway and closer to Germany). On the other hand, it is slightly more “in the middle of nowhere” (no offense for the people from that area) and the Zandvoort area probably better fits the MINI life style (also airport nearby).

Bottomline: it would be great if it goes ahead in the Netherlands. No matter which circuit they use!

D VanO Sep 21st, 2006 Link

Hup Holland! I’m in for sure.

Owen Sep 21st, 2006 Link

Misano rocked. There were only 14 of us from Ireland, but we were the last to leave every night :-)

MTTS 2008 for picking up my new MINI Clubman?!?!?!?! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!

Arjan Sep 21st, 2006 Link

Its very nice to hear that MINI UNITED will be in The Netherlands in 2007!

Soooo… hope to meet you all! :)

DRC Sep 21st, 2006 Link

What about an Eastcoast to Westcoast run this time? Overall MTTS was a good event but it just seemed like everyone was drained by the time they got to the last few days (and I certainly don’t blame them!). The party in Jersey City was kind of blah… White Roof Radio didn’t even cover it. I was expecting a big bash and I know a lot of people didn’t even stay for Everclear (which was the best part IMO) because the party died by 4 or 5. Overall, MINI was very gracious to do such a great event and I can’t imagine the expense to put it on, but starting on the Eastcoast this time would allow others to participate in the kickoff activities.

RudyT Sep 21st, 2006 Link

Gabe, Db, Todd… Any chance of coming over to Europe and covering MINI United 2008? Sounds like its time to get over here and do some serious motoring… Oh and did I mention the Ring ???

Jon Sep 21st, 2006 Link

My wife and myself are going to the next United, and when/if there is another MTTS will be doing a large portion, if not all of it. Would be truely great to see a Seatle to Key West run, It would cover a lot of miles of motoring fun.

RudyT Sep 21st, 2006 Link

Jon, where’s about are you located ? Europe?
Maybe we can hookup and get a small convoy upto United… RudyT in NAM. Feel free to PM me.

MINI United - Russia will be there!!!

Last year we got a prize for the longest journey to the event. We were only 3 cars. This year our club took a “Back to the Rootes Drive” From Moscow to Oxford and 9 cars took part.

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/222574

Next year we gonna bring 20+ cars from Russia plus 5 or more from Ukraine and some more from the Baltics
