Most likely the last of our Dragon video footage for 2007, this is a full compilation of all video I shot from my garage in Chicago to our Cabin at Fontana. It gives you a small window into our 10 hour drive that day – including a shortened version of the ‘Dragon Night Run’ posted last week. For a little continuity, I’ve synced it to another LCD Soundsystem song; “Jump into the Fire”. Unfortunately there’s no iTunes link as it’s only availble on a 7″ vinyl single from the UK. But if you’re dying to hear more, there’s always the vintage Harry Nilsson version or your friend and mine, Google.
And yes, it’s also sped up just a bit…
Gabe that is bad…ass! Did you just leave your camera running the whole time and speed it up in post, or does it have a time-lapse function? I want to do that for every road trip now!
Nice Mr. 10 and 2.
Perfect soundtrack as well.
Hey Gabe,
Why don’t you post a map of your route to Deal’s Gap. Some of the video looked familiar.

Awesome video Gabe, very entertaining! 🙂
so wait … you drive 10 and 2 all the time?
I thought it was just the Dragon grip! 🙂
Very nice job Gabe – The soundtrack is perfect.
Any chance of making a higher quality version available for download?
(It’s true what they claim about fuel economy on the R56 – your indicator hardly moved 😀 )
AWESOME video Gabe!! I especially like the part on LSD.
Ditto on a higher res version.
Now that’s a cool tune. Excellent cover.
Where can I get the 10 hour directors cut with audio commentary?
Wow, that new R56 is fast… that trip really didn’t look that far.
That was awesome! perfect record choice, too 😉
I was thinking about the other Jump In The Fire song by Metallica.
Iwas thinking of “Jump in the line” by Harry Belafonte”.
Seeing how much Lake Shore Drive has changed in the nearly 20 years since I’ve lived there was interesting. The rest of the drive was just flat out cool, with a great soundtrack choice.
Nice bookending with the graphic image of the squared off garages at the outset, and the squared off porch at the completion. Brought it full circle.
um, er, make that nearly 30 years… I just re-did the math in my head.
The first 2 minutes reminds me of the drive from Patrick Mini to Louisville when I got my ’03.
drove off the lot in Chicago and then…. break in period? we don’t need no stinkin break in period. What fun.
>Gabe that is bad…ass! Did you just leave your camera running the whole time and speed it up in post, or does it have a time-lapse function?
Thanks! No I simply turned on the camera every so often when I was going through some certain areas that i felt might be interesting. Then I imported it all into iMovie, edited, sped it up, and added the song.
>Where can I get the 10 hour directors cut with audio commentary?
When Google lets me upload 1gig files 🙂
>Any chance of making a higher quality version available for download?
You can actually download a version straight from Google – not sure about the quality though. The original file is about 40mb – a little large to offer as a download unfortunately.
>so wait … you drive 10 and 2 all the time?
Always.
Gabe, where have I seen/heard that song before? I want to say it was in one of Martin Scorcese’s movies, either Goodfellas or Casino.
Do you know?
>Gabe, where have I seen/heard that song before? I want to say it was in one of Martin Scorcese’s movies, either Goodfellas or Casino.
Not sure – maybe the original Harry Nilsson version. This version comes out May 28th.
The original by Harry Nilsson was in Goodfellas…1990.
When Henry Hill and Karen (Ray Liotta and Lorraine Bracco) are running all over Queens for the gun deals and drug deals the song is playing in the background. It’s about 3/4th’s of the way into the movie, right before Henry is busted in his driveway.
Cool video by the way, Gabe.
Gabe, what kind of GPS do you have there? Is it a Nuvi? Is it a TomTom?
Nuvi 660.
