MINI continues to have a banner 2012, selling nearly 5,000 cars in the month of September — making it their best September ever. MINI sales are up 22.5% over September 2011, and up 16.6% year-to-date. But the big shocker? The Countryman outsold the MINI hatch for the first time. And not by just a hair but by more than 200 units. Check out the full model break-down after the jump.

Quite a big decline from the past few months, though …
http://www.gbmini.net/wp/mini_usa_sales_chart/

Model year switch and supply issues secondary to factory closures. It’s fairly typical for September.

That’s why it’s looked at on a mo/mo level: it takes the seasonality of the numbers off. The chart you provided the link for beautifully presents it. Where you see falling numbers, I see a stock buying opportunity! :)

I bought the All 4 with 6 speed and I’m very happy with the vehicle. Most trouble are BMW sales where 5 and 3 series are struggling.

The BMW sales are interesting… the 5er is really not doing well. Maybe they can bring on the LCI and return the steering feel and dynamic attributes that made it a better drive than the competitors for the past couple of generations.
The 3er isn’t as surprising given the xDrive models just now hitting north america. They should pick-up once they are available at full tilt.
The hardtop is hitting its end of the model cycle with a pending all new car… so not as surprising.

YTD Clubman sales @ -23% would tell me the buyers who found the Cooper Too small are jumping to the Countryman instead of the Clubman now.

Any softness in MINI hatch sales can probably be attributed to potential purchasers waiting to see what 2013 will bring. I am one of them.

Interesting to see Coupe and Roadster so close on sales too, would be more interesting to see the margin though and how many of the the Coupes were at full ticket price and how many were dealer registered rather than end customer.
